Fr. John Amsberry will Speak on February 28, 2010

Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego welcomes Father John Amsberry to Life Teen Mass on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 6 PM. At the conclusion of Mass, Father Amsberry will speak at the Life Teen/Edge meeting. The focus of his discussion is family solidarity. He encourages all families to attend.

The charismatic priest graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. He went to law school and earned his MBA. In time, "The love of God came in and ruined my old way of life". This love guided him to develop the motto "the quality of your recognition (seeing and hearing) is made manifest by your response".

In 1997, Father Amsberry was called to the priesthood. "I seek to share God's Holy Spirit and love with everyone I meet". He preaches that we be true to ourselves, much like St. Catherine of Siena: "When we are what we are supposed to be, the whole world will be set ablaze."

His new book, ‘More Of You, Through Prayer', testifies to this belief. Father Amsberry also wrote ‘Reaching Out To Joy' which was published in 2007. "You are loved", his life message, is reflected in all he speaks, writes, and sings. His website logo, URLVD, carries this theme.

This energetic and passionate priest at St. Joseph the Worker in NE Portland holds parish missions and speaks at youth conferences across the country. He is also a frequent speaker at Catholic schools and Parishes in the Portland area.

The post-Mass event in the Parish Hall is jointly hosted by Life Teen/Edge and the A GiFT ministry (Adults Growing in Faith Together). Refreshments will be available. The evening will conclude by 9 PM. There is no admission.

The Parish Hall is located beneath the Church at 650 A. Avenue, Lake Oswego, OR 97034. For more information, contact Jason Kidd, jasonk@ollparish.com or 503-636-7687.  For details on Father Amsberry, please visit his website at http://www.uareloved.com  or http://www.stjosephtheworkerpdx.org
