Continuing the Vision

Our Lady of the Lake Parish has a long history in the Lake Oswego community. Following the tradition of focusing on and planning for the future, leaders have continued to strategize to meet the changing and growing needs of Our Lady of the Lake Parish:

  • A need for increased meeting space for more than 60 parish ministries as well asadequate accommodations for staff.
  • A need for a modern, efficient school space that reflects and supports the quality education offered by Our Lady of the Lake School and Religious Education program.
  • A need for increased safety, security and energy efficiency in Our Lady of the Lake's facilities and site.
The church building is in fine operational condition. However, the current Parish Center and Our Lady of the Lake School have both outlived their usefulness and are becoming operationally and functionally inefficient. The time to move forward is now!

Meeting the Needs

After listening carefully to parishioners and community members, revising our plan and praying for guidance, the dedicated leadership has now crafted a project that will meet the challenges and needs of the parish:

  • A multi-purpose Parish Center will be constructed to accommodate the varied ministries of the parish, including a new food pantry for outreach, conference rooms for prayer groups and faith formation ministries, cafeteria for fellowship gatherings, gymnasium for athletic activities, classrooms for Our Lady of the Lake School and the parish offices; it will also allow the Lake Oswego community to take advantage of expanded meeting space and athletic facilities. The school and the Religious Education program will have functional classroom space, specialty classrooms (art, music, computer and science labs) and adequate storage for the ministries that share our classroom spaces.
  • The Parish Center will be a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building. It will be seismically secure with complete fire and security systems and compliant with the American Disabilities Act.
  • The plan will increase off-street parking by 25% as well as restructure the parking lot for safer traffic flow on and around the church property, outdoor athletic spaces will be relocated and improved.
